Melissa Morgan began her career in corporate accounting as an Accountant for NBC affiliates and later established a tax department for a regional payroll company. She made the decision to pursue a career in public accounting, went on to pass the CPA exam in 2000 and joined the Tompkins & Peters CPAs, P.C. team that same year. Her leadership skills and extensive knowledge in the areas of tax, accounting and auditing, and management advisory services quickly elevated Melissa to manager.
Melissa's abilities in reviewing the current IRS revisions, rules and regulations have proven invaluable. She assists clients in evaluating their financial position and recommending the right tax planning strategies to minimize their tax liability. Her in depth experience in accounting and auditing enables her to manage a diverse group of businesses, associations, organizations and individuals. Her extensive QuickBooks experience, knowledge of management accounting, and analytical skills allow her to assist clients with the successful design and maintenance of their accounting systems. Melissa's attention to detail and diverse experience have proven invaluable when providing litigation support services and advising clients on consulting engagements such as job costing for construction contractors and cost allocations for government contractors.
Melissa is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Nevada Society of Certified Public Accountants (NSCPA), and the Golden Key Honor Society. She has participated in the Asthma Walk at UNLV and the City of Hope Walk as part of the Tompkins & Peters CPAs, P.C. sponsored teams. Melissa has represented Tompkins & Peters CPAs, P.C. in the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce and she was also a member of the Green Valley Rotary Club, serving as Treasurer for the 2005/2006 fiscal year.
Melissa Morgan moved to Las Vegas, Nevada from Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1997 after graduating with honors from Florida Atlantic University. She received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Accounting. She is currently licensed as a CPA practicing in Nevada (CPA #3769).
